The mid-level spreader allows you stabilize your legs, even when working on uneven ground or stairs, which can be problematic when using a ground spreader.
Each arm of the mid-level spreader can independently extend from about 13.5 to 18.9″. This allows you to stabilize your tripod, even when the legs are not evenly spread.
